User can use the migration assistant for copying all the documents, settings, accounts and many different apps to their new Mac from some other system. The user can go through the PC migration guidelines if the files are over a Windows PC.   • Try to install the available updates of Apple software over both the Mac systems. Then even install any of the updates for the apps of third party.

  • Ensure that the old mac is running over OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.8 or later.

  • Ensure that the old Mac possess a system name as “Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences” and then tap over sharing. Then check the section of computer name.

  • Establish connection of both the system to the AC power.

Connect both the computers to one another:

  • Ensure that both the system are placed near to each other if they are using the macOS Sierra or later and have turned on Wi-Fi option. If any one of the system is using the OS X EI Captain or before then try to make connection to the same network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

  • Or the user can even use correct cable, adapter or the target disk mode for connecting them and then start the old system in the target disk mode.

  • Try to connect to new Mac to the old Mac’s Time Machine backup.

 

Using the Migration Assistant over the new Mac:

  • Rom the folder of the application folder, try to open up the migration assistant.

  • Tap over continue option.

  • After clicking over continue option you will be asked to choose the mode of data transferring then choose the option “to transfer from a Mac, the startup disk or Time machine.”

  • Then press over continue option.

Using the migration assistance over old Mac:

  • You can skip these steps if you have started the old Mac over the target disk mode or if migrating from the Time Machine backup.

  • Open up the Migration assistant.

  • Tap over continue option.

  • Choose the tab to transfer to another Mac when you are asked about the medium of transferring information.

  • Tap over option Continue.

On the new Mac:

  • When asked to select a Mac, Time Machine backup, or other startup disk, click the appropriate icon.

  • Tap over Continue option where you might come across a security code.

On the old Mac:

If you started the old Mac in the target disk mode or trying to migrate from a Time Machine backup, then you can skip these two steps.

  • If you get to see the security code, ensure that it's exactly same code as over the new Mac.

  • Tap over the Continue.

On the new Mac:

  • You should check the backups list that is well managed by the date and time. Select the backup that you need to use.

  • Tap over the Continue.

If you wish to continue over the new Mac:

  • Choose the data for transferring.

  • Tap over the continue option for starting the transfer. The transfer might take bit time that can stretch out to hour if there is lots of data to transfer.
